Scotland has many unspoilt areas of rugged natural beauty that make it the ideal destination for exploring the great outdoors during your holiday. Many outdoor activities can be enjoyed in the Crieff area and within easy reach of Murraypark Hotel. Whether you are an intrepid outdoor fitness fanatic or just want a bit more from your  holiday than a crowded beach or bustling city, Perthshire has something for you.

Check out the following local holiday ideas for exploring Perthshire and let us know your favourite outdoor activities in the comments section below.

Hill Walking in Meall Ghaordaidh

Heading off the beaten track for some walking can be a refreshing change from the well-trodden trails, especially if you are in search of some adventure and solitude. There is a wonderful alternative country walk around nearby Meall Ghaordaidh that offers a new perspective to the standard route up the Munro from Glen Lochray. This rugged 9.5 mile climb is just over an hour’s drive from Murraypark Hotel and will take you around six hours to complete, so if you’re staying with us you’ll be ready for a cup of hot chocolate and a warm bath when you get back!

Action Glen

Action Glen is set in acres of unspoilt Scottish forest and has the appearance of the ‘Ewok Village’ from Star Wars. A spine tingling high wire tree top adventure park, Action Glen offers one of the best wild days out in Scotland. Action Glen Adventure Centre can be found on the grounds of our sister hotel Crieff Hydro and be reached in a quick 10 minute walk making it a fantastic holiday idea for families with teenage children, as well as for stag/hen dos and office away days.

Open Water Swimming in Loch Earn

Our very own Loch Earn offers one of the safest and accessible  open water swimming locations in Scotland.  In just a quick 30 minute drive from our hotel, you can be re-energised and invigorated   by swimming in the naturally stunning surroundings of a Scottish Loch. It beats the municipal swimming pool any day! Have you ever partaken in any open water swimming?
